Journal prompts

Submissive journal prompts: 30 ways to put it in writing

A sub journal is a written record of your service, your limits and your feelings, kept for yourself and sometimes sent to a Mistress as a report. This page gives 30 prompts in six themes. Online a journal travels as plain text, never photos, and every prompt stays inside the limits you have agreed.

At a glance

  • A sub journal has two layers: a private notebook that is only for you, and a short report you choose to send, with failures first.
  • On DominatrixCam a report is a written message, because messages to a Mistress carry text only; photos of pages, video and files cannot be sent.
  • A Mistress sets a journal to see what She cannot watch: how you kept Her rules, what was hard and where a limit has moved.
  • Five minutes a day is enough; one prompt, a few honest lines and the date serve better than a long entry written once a month.
  • Skip any prompt that touches a limit, and keep your surname, address and employer out of anything you send.

Why a Mistress sets a journal

She cannot watch you keep Her rules, so She asks you to describe them. A journal gives Her a record of what you actually did, a view of how you feel about it and an early warning when something is going wrong. It does as much for you: a vague feeling becomes specific once you have to find words for it, and a month of entries shows the day you always slip and the rule you resent.

How a sub journal works online

Keep two layers apart and the rest is easy. The private journal is yours: a notebook or a locked file in which you write freely, including things you would never send. The report is a short extract you shape for Her, with dates, what you did, what went wrong and what you need. She reads the report, never the notebook, unless you choose to share an entry.

Reports travel as written messages. Visitors can send a Mistress text messages outside sessions, and nothing can be attached, so a photograph of a page, a video or a file will not go through; type the entry instead. A reply is not guaranteed, and when it comes is Hers to choose. A private with one of our own Mistresses is one-way, with your camera and microphone off and no chat box, so a question about your journal belongs in a message before it starts. Showing Her a page held up to the lens would need cam2cam, sold only in LiveJasmin partner rooms marked ↗, as a paid extra in credits on that site.

Ground rules for writing one

A journal is a record of service and not a form of therapy, and it makes no claim about your wellbeing; if your entries show a low mood that will not lift, talk to someone you trust, or to a counsellor who is comfortable with kink. Four rules keep it useful and safe:

  • Stay inside your limits. Every prompt here is a suggestion: skip any that touches a hard limit, and tell Her if one stirs something you did not expect.
  • Failures first. Open each report with what you missed, because a failure you confess gives Her something to work with.
  • Keep yourself out of it. No surname, address or employer, and nothing about people who have not agreed to be part of your dynamic.
  • Tell the truth. An entry written to impress Her is worth less than a short one that is accurate.

Prompts on limits and desires

Start here, because everything else rests on it: say what you want and what you refuse in words you could send to Her.

  • Describe what draws you most to a dominant woman, and what you notice first when you watch one at work.
  • List three things you would try and three you would refuse, with one reason beside each.
  • Write about a limit that has shifted since you began, and what moved it.
  • Name what would end a session for you at once, and how you would stop a one-way private.
  • Write down what you hope She never asks of you, and what you hope She does.

Prompts on service

Service prompts turn effort into words. They suit a Mistress who sets chores, errands or standards, and a sub who carries them out with nobody watching.

  • List every act of service you completed this week, with the time you did each and how long it took.
  • Describe the task you liked least and the real reason you resisted it.
  • Which standard did you only just meet, and what would meeting it properly require?
  • Write about a moment when nobody could have checked your work and you did it well anyway.
  • Describe how Her last instruction changed the way you spent an ordinary evening.

Prompts on obedience and rules

These prompts test the gap between a rule as written and a rule as lived, which is where the useful information hides.

  • Copy out the rules you are keeping now, then mark the one you find hardest.
  • Describe the last time you broke a rule: what happened just beforehand, and what you told yourself.
  • Write about a rule that has stopped meaning anything, then draft the message asking Her to rewrite or retire it.
  • Write about a correction: how it felt at the time and how it feels now.
  • List three ways to keep your best rule on your worst day.

Prompts on chastity and denial

Use these only if you have agreed chastity or orgasm control with a Mistress or a partner. If a device ever causes pain, numbness, cold or a change of colour, unlock it first and write afterwards; the chastity keyholder page covers fit, hygiene and emergency release.

  • Record the day count of your current denial, and describe how the last twenty-four hours felt.
  • Write about the moment you were most tempted this week, and what you did instead.
  • Describe how being locked changes the way you think of Her through the day.
  • List the questions you want to ask Her before the next unlock, and the answer you are hoping for.
  • Describe how the device felt on your skin today, and whether anything needs adjusting before tomorrow.

Prompts on gratitude and devotion

Gratitude keeps a long dynamic warm. These prompts suit anyone who wants to thank Her well, whether or not the dynamic leans towards adoration.

  • Write a short thank-you to Her for one specific thing She has taught you.
  • Describe three things about the way She runs Her room or Her sessions that you admire.
  • Choose something She said that stayed with you, and explain why it stuck.
  • Write about a time She was stricter than you expected and you were glad of it.
  • Describe what you would give Her if money were no object, then what you can honestly offer within your budget.

Prompts on growth and review

End each month with these. They turn a pile of entries into a picture of how you are changing, and they feed your next check-in; the questions to ask a sub page has more for that conversation.

  • Write about something you know about your own submission now that you did not know a month ago.
  • Name the habit that has become easy and the one that still takes effort.
  • Describe a session that left you better than it found you, and one that did not.
  • Draft three questions for your next check-in, and one thing you want to stop doing.
  • Describe the sub you want to be in three months, in terms of habits rather than feelings.

Turning a prompt into a report

Choose one prompt a day, or one theme a week, and write for five minutes in your private notebook without editing. Then pick the three lines most useful to Her and type them into a message: the date first, any failure next, then what you did. Keep to the length She sets and send it at the hour She names.

The guide to being a good sub covers the habits around reporting, femdom tasks shows what She may ask you to write about, and submissive affirmations offers a spoken counterpart to a written habit.

Questions people ask

What should a submissive write in a journal?

What he did and when, what went wrong, how it felt and what he needs. Start with failures, add one honest detail about how a task felt, and finish with a question if you have one. A private notebook can hold far more than the report you send, including doubts that never leave the page.

How often should a sub send his journal to a Mistress?

As often as She asks. A daily line and a longer weekly report are common patterns, but She sets the rhythm and the length. Send it at the hour She names, because a short report on time beats a long one that arrives late. If the schedule becomes a strain, tell Her.

Can I send photos of my journal pages?

No. Messages to a Mistress here carry text only, so no photos, video or files can be attached. Type the entry, or an extract, instead. A specific, honest paragraph is better evidence than a picture of handwriting, and it keeps anything identifying out of the conversation.

Do I have to show a Mistress my private journal?

No. Your notebook stays yours unless you choose to share an entry. What She asks for is a report: a short, edited account in your own words, in a form agreed in advance. Never include a surname, an address or details about other people.

What if a prompt makes me uncomfortable?

Skip it. Prompts are suggestions inside the limits you have agreed, and none is an instruction. If one stirs something you did not expect, tell Her, or write about why it troubled you instead. If a heavy feeling lingers for days, pause play and talk it over with someone you trust.
