What Locktober is
Locktober is a chastity challenge that comes round every October. The idea is simple to state: lock up on the first, stay locked for as much of the month as you choose, and unlock when it ends. It belongs to the kink and chastity communities, where it returns each autumn on forums and social platforms as a shared date and a standing invitation to try what you have been curious about. The name is a blend of lock and October.
There is no official organiser, rulebook or referee, though groups and communities set rules of their own for their members. People mean different things by it: some wear a device day and night with hygiene breaks, some wear it for set hours, and some count only the days they lock up. Your first job is therefore a plain one: decide what taking part means for you, and write it down before the month begins.
Why people take it on
A month has an end, which makes a big idea feel manageable. Others are doing the same on the same dates, so there is company, and because it returns every year it works as a yearly marker of how far you have come. For a submissive man with a Mistress, a month gives the dynamic a shape: a first week to settle, a long middle to get through and a last day that everything leads towards.
That shape is also the risk. A date on the calendar can push you past what your body is telling you, and the rest of this page is about keeping the ambition while removing the harm.
Three ways to take part
Whoever holds the key, the same safety rules apply. The three common set-ups are these:
- Alone: you set the rules, keep the key and answer to yourself. Write the rules down on 30 September and change them during the month only for safety. A timer tool can serve as a clock, as the chastity apps guide explains, but never as your only way out.
- With a partner: a wife or partner who agrees to hold the key makes it a shared project. Agree the rules together, talk each week and let either of you pause it; the femdom for couples guide covers raising the idea.
- With an online keyholder: a Mistress sets the month's rules in a message or reads them aloud in a one-way private, you report in writing each week, and decisions about unlocking are Hers.
Preparing and building up before 1 October
Locktober goes best for people who start in September. Choose a device that fits, since poor fit causes many of the problems beginners report, and read the chastity cage safety guide before you buy. Put a spare key in a sealed envelope where you can reach it in seconds, and mark every hygiene unlock on a calendar. If you will travel in October, decide now whether the challenge pauses for the trip.
Then build up in steps, staying on each until your body has shown no complaint and dropping back a step after any problem. A month is the goal only for someone who has coped with every step before it, and ending October with a week or two of wear that suits you is a good result.
- Wear the device at home for a short spell while awake, then take it off and look at your skin.
- Repeat that on several days, lengthening the spells slightly each time.
- Wear it for a full day, with the washing and skin checks you plan to keep in October.
- Try a night, but only if you can sleep; if erections wake you, take it off and try again later.
- Manage a weekend with a hygiene unlock in the middle.
- Manage a week on the hygiene schedule you plan for the challenge.
Rules and check-ins for the month
Write the month's rules on 30 September. The chastity rules guide has every part and a sample list; for Locktober the essentials are a fixed hygiene schedule, a weekly written report, a day count in a log, a penalty for a slip that is written in advance and cannot hurt you, and the emergency clause. Put a review at the halfway point, around 15 or 16 October, in the diary now.
A month falls into four stretches you can plan for:
- Days 1 to 7: routine and novelty. Check your skin at every hygiene unlock, and say in the first report how it looked.
- Days 8 to 15: the novelty wears off and the rules begin to matter. The weekly report is where you say honestly how it is going, and the halfway review closes this stretch.
- Days 16 to 23: fit, schedule and term can all change here without shame, if the review showed they should.
- Days 24 to 31: the end is in sight, so resist adding extras and keep to the rules that got you this far.
Locktober with an online Mistress
Ask in the last week of September. Write to Her with your dates, your device, how long you have worn one before, what you hope for and any limit, and ask what She wants in a report and what She charges. Messages carry text only, so everything is written.
In a private with one of our own Mistresses your camera and microphone stay off and no chat box opens, so She can neither see the device nor read a word from you while the session lasts. The month's check is therefore your weekly written report, and honesty carries it. You pay per minute of private time at the rate She sets, in US dollars, from a site balance funded in crypto, and a tribute goes to Her site balance with at least 70% staying with Her. Being inspected on camera means cam2cam, which only LiveJasmin partner rooms marked ↗ sell, as an extra paid in that site's credits. Start from the chastity tag in the browse view.
Unlocking early is not failing
The moment you notice numbness, tingling, pain that lingers after an adjustment, a change of colour, swelling, coldness or broken skin, the device comes off, whatever day of the month it is and whatever the rules say. If someone else holds your key, tell them afterwards, and give your skin time to settle before you decide whether to restart. A challenge that ends early for a safety reason has been done properly; one that ends in an injury has not.
A device that will not come off, or swelling or discolouration that does not settle after removal, is a reason to see a doctor, not to wait for the first of November. No streak or promise is worth more than a warning sign.
What to do on 1 November
Unlock, wash and look at your skin before anything else, then leave the device off for a few days while you decide what comes next. Settle the ending in your rules before the month starts: a permitted release, a ruined finish, a cum countdown to the last number or continued denial. With a Mistress the ending is Hers, so ask beforehand whether She decides on the day.
Write a short review while it is fresh: what worked, what you would change and where your limit was. If a Mistress held the key, send it to Her as a message. Some people follow Locktober with a denial month, which the No Nut November guide covers, but a rest between the two is sensible, and the aftercare guide explains how to come down gently.
Questions people ask
What is Locktober?
An informal chastity challenge held every October in the kink community, in which people wear a chastity device for as much of the month as they choose. It has no official organiser or rulebook. You can take part alone, with a partner or with an online keyholder, and the sensible way is to build up beforehand and keep hygiene unlocks and an emergency release throughout.
Do I have to wear a chastity device for all of October?
No. No official body sets the rules, so the goal is whatever you write down at the start: the whole month, set hours each day or a number of days. Taking part safely matters more than reaching the thirty-first, and any sign of numbness, pain, a change of colour or swelling ends the day's wear at once.
Can I do Locktober with an online Mistress?
Yes. Agree the rules in a message before 1 October, or ask for a private in which She reads them aloud, though a private is one-way. Your weekly report is written, because messages carry text only and no photos can be sent. Only a LiveJasmin partner room, with cam2cam bought in credits on that site, lets Her see the device.
How do I prepare for Locktober?
Practise in September: a short spell, then a full day, then a night, then a longer stretch, checking your skin each time. Choose a device that fits, keep a spare key within reach, put the hygiene dates on a calendar and decide how the month will end. Start on the first only if every step went without complaint.
What if I need to unlock early?
Then you unlock, and it is not failing. A warning sign means the device comes off at once, and a planned hygiene unlock was part of the rules from the start. Tell whoever holds the key in your next report, give your skin time to settle and restart only if it looks and feels normal. If a device will not come off, see a doctor.
What should I do after Locktober ends?
Unlock on 1 November, wash, check your skin and leave the device off for a few days before deciding what is next. Write down what worked, and agree in advance whether the ending is a release, a ruined finish or continued denial. For a follow-on month of denial, see the No Nut November guide.
